The history of the Ayodhya Mandir, specifically referring to the contentious Ram Janmabhoomi site, is deeply intertwined with religious, historical, and political narratives. The city of Ayodhya, situated in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, has been a symbol of cultural and religious significance for centuries.

Ancient Roots

Ayodhya, situated on the banks of the Sarayu River, is considered the birthplace of Lord Ram, the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu according to Hindu beliefs. The ancient city is mentioned in various Hindu scriptures and revered for its association with the Ramayana.

Babri Masjid Construction (1528)

The construction of the Babri Masjid is attributed to the Mughal Emperor Babur, who commissioned its building in 1528. The mosque, named after him, became a prominent religious site.

Idols Placed Inside Babri Masjid (1949)

In 1949, idols of Lord Ram, along with the images of Goddess Sita and Lord Lakshman, were found inside the Babri Masjid. This discovery heightened tensions and led to the closure of the mosque.

Legal Battle Begins (1950s-1960s)

The legal dispute commenced in the 1950s when the Sunni Waqf Board filed a case claiming ownership of the disputed site. The case evolved over the years, becoming one of the longest-running legal battles in India.

Babri Masjid Demolition (December 6, 1992)

On December 6, 1992, a large gathering of Hindu activists, including leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP),and Shiv sena Balasaheb thakre demolished the Babri Masjid. The event triggered widespread communal riots and resulted in significant social and political repercussions.

Ayodhya Act (1993)

In response to the Babri Masjid demolition, the Indian government enacted the “Ayodhya Act” in 1993. The Act aimed to maintain the status quo and protect the acquired land surrounding the disputed site.

Formation of Liberhan Commission (1992–2009)

The Liberhan Commission, established in 1992, investigated the circumstances leading to the Babri Masjid demolition. The commission’s report, submitted in 2009, highlighted political and administrative lapses that contributed to the event.

Supreme Court Intervention (2002)

In 2002, the Supreme Court intervened and ordered a status quo on the disputed site, preventing any religious activities. This decision aimed to maintain stability and prevent further communal tensions.

Allahabad High Court Verdict (2010)

The Allahabad High Court delivered a landmark verdict in 2010, dividing the disputed land into three parts. This included one-third for the Sunni Waqf Board, one-third for the Nirmohi Akhara, and one-third for the party representing the deity, Lord Ram.

Supreme Court Verdict (November 9, 2019)

In a historic judgment in 2019, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the construction of a Ram Temple at the disputed site. The court acknowledged the significance of the site for Hindus and emphasized the unlawful nature of the Babri Masjid demolition.

Formation of Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust (2020)

In 2020, the Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust was established to oversee the construction of the Ram Temple. The trust is responsible for managing the entire temple complex.

Bhoomi Pujan (August 5, 2020)

On August 5, 2020, a grand Bhoomi Pujan ceremony took place to mark the formal commencement of the construction of the Ram Temple. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and various religious leaders attended the historic event.

Construction Commences (2020 Onwards)

Architect

The original design of the Ram Temple was prepared by the Sompura family of Ahmedabad in 1988.  Sompura has contributed to the design of over 100 temples across the world for at least 15 generations, including the Somnath Temple .  The chief architect of the temple was Chandrakant Sompura, assisted by his two sons, Nikhil Sompura and Ashish Sompura, who are also architects. A new design, with some changes from the original, was prepared by Sompura in 2020,  according to Hindu texts, Vastu Shastra and Shilpa Shastra . The temple will be 250 feet wide, 380 feet long and 161 feet (49 m) high. Once completed, the temple complex will be the third largest Hindu temple in the world. It is designed in the Gurjara -Chalukya style of Nagara style architecture , a type of Hindu temple architecture found primarily in northern India. A model of the proposed temple was displayed during the Prayag Kumbh Mela in 2019. The main structure of the temple will be built on a three-storey high platform. There will be five pavilions in the middle of the sanctum sanctorum and at the entrance . Three mandaps on one side will be for Kudu, dance and colour, and two mandaps on the other side will be for kirtan and prayer . In Nagara style the pavilions are decorated with shikharas.

The building will have a total of 366 columns. The pillars will each have 16 idols including incarnations of Shiva , 10 Dashavatara , 64 Chausath Yoginis and 12 incarnations of Goddess Saraswati . The width of the stairs will be 16 feet (4.9 m). As per the design of temples dedicated to Vishnu , the sanctum sanctorum will be octagonal. The temple will be built on 10 acres (0.040 km 2 ), and 57 acres (0.23 km 2 ) of land will be used for a prayer hall, a lecture hall, an educational facility and other facilities including a museum and a cafeteria. Will be developed in one complex. According to the temple committee, more than 70,000 people will be able to visit the site. Larsen & Toubro offered to oversee the design and construction of the temple free of charge, and became the contractor for the project. The Central Building Research Institute , National Geophysical Research Institute and IITs Bombay , Guwahati and Madras are assisting in areas such as soil testing , concrete and design.

The construction work will be completed with Rs 600,000 sandstone obtained from Bansi , Rajasthan . There would be no use of iron in the construction of the temple and ten thousand copper plates would be required to join the stone blocks. In a culturally significant move, Thailand is also symbolically contributing to the inauguration of the Ram temple by sending soil to the Ram Janmabhoomi , building on its earlier gesture of sending water from two rivers of Thailand to honor the temple.

Construction

Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra started the first phase of construction of Shri Ram Temple in March 2020. However, the 2020 China–India clashes following the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in India led to a temporary suspension of construction. During leveling and excavation of the construction site, a Shivalinga , pillars and broken statues were found. On 25 March 2020, the idol of Lord Ram was moved to a temporary location in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath .

In preparation for its construction, Vishwa Hindu Parishad organized a Vijay Mahamantra chanting ritual, in which people would gather at different locations to chant the Vijay Mahamantra, Shri Ram, Jai Ram, Jai Jai Ram on 6 April 2020. This was said to ensure "victory over obstacles" in the construction of the temple.

Larsen & Toubro offered to oversee the design and construction of the temple pro bono and is the contractor on the project. The Central Building Research Institute, the National Institute of Geophysical Research and the Indian Institute of Technology (e.g. Bombay, Guwahati and Madras) are assisting in areas like soil testing, concrete and design. Reports emerged that the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) had identified a stream of Saryu that flows beneath the temple.

The construction work will be completed with 600 thousand cubic feet of sandstone and Bansi mountain stones brought from Rajasthan.

Dignity of life

By January 2024, the first floor of the temple including the sanctum sanctorum will be ready. In this , the consecration of the idol of Shri Ram was done on 22 January 2024 at 12:29 pm during the auspicious time period of 90 minutes. In which the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi was the chief guest. Before this , various programs had started from 15th January ( Makar Sankranti ). The Uttar Pradesh government has earmarked Rs 100 crore for Pran Pratistha. School holidays have been declared in many states on 22 January. Narendra Modi has called upon people to light lamps at their homes on January 22. Many well-known actors of the cinema world including Modi and a total of 6000 VVIPs participated in the program.

Ram Temple is an important Hindu temple currently under construction in Ayodhya , Uttar Pradesh , India . Its sanctum sanctorum and first floor were ready in January 2024 and on January 22, 2024, the idol in the child form of Shri Ram was consecrated.

This temple is located at the place which is considered to be the birthplace of Ram, the main deity of Hindu religion . Earlier, the site housed the Babri Masjid, which was constructed after demolishing an existing un-Islamic structure, which was later demolished. In 2019, the Supreme Court of India ruled on the disputed land , stating that the land belongs to Hindus and a Ram temple can be built on it. Muslims will be given a separate piece of land to build a mosque. The court cited as evidence a report by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), which cited evidence suggesting the presence of a non-Islamic structure beneath the demolished Babri Mosque.

Bhoomipujan to begin the construction of Ram temple was performed on 5 August 2020. The temple currently under construction is being maintained by Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. The inauguration of the temple is scheduled for 22 January 2024.

Timing of darshan has been fixed  : -

After the installation of the new idol, devotees will get the opportunity to enjoy the darshan of both the idols in the Ram temple from today itself. Darshan timings are from 7 am in the morning till 11:30 am in the first shift. After this, the time for the second shift has been fixed from 2 pm to 6:30 pm. If the crowd of devotees increases, the duration of darshan will be extended.

अयोध्या मंदिराचा इतिहास, विशेषत: विवादित रामजन्मभूमी स्थळाचा संदर्भ देणारा, धार्मिक, ऐतिहासिक आणि राजकीय कथांशी खोलवर गुंफलेला आहे. उत्तर भारतातील उत्तर प्रदेश राज्यात वसलेले अयोध्या शहर शतकानुशतके सांस्कृतिक आणि धार्मिक महत्त्वाचे प्रतीक आहे.

प्राचीन मुळे

सरयू नदीच्या काठावर वसलेले अयोध्या हे हिंदू मान्यतेनुसार भगवान विष्णूचे सातवे अवतार रामाचे जन्मस्थान मानले जाते. प्राचीन शहराचा उल्लेख विविध हिंदू धर्मग्रंथांमध्ये केला गेला आहे आणि रामायणाच्या सहवासासाठी त्याचा आदर केला जातो.

बाबरी मशीद बांधकाम (१५२८)

बाबरी मशिदीच्या बांधकामाचे श्रेय मुघल सम्राट बाबर यांना दिले जाते, ज्याने 1528 मध्ये तिची इमारत बांधली. त्यांच्या नावावर असलेली मशीद एक प्रमुख धार्मिक स्थळ बनली.

बाबरी मशिदीच्या आत ठेवलेल्या मूर्ती (1949)

1949 मध्ये बाबरी मशिदीत सीता आणि भगवान लक्ष्मण यांच्या प्रतिमांसह रामाच्या मूर्ती सापडल्या होत्या. या शोधामुळे तणाव वाढला आणि मशीद बंद करण्यात आली.

कायदेशीर लढाई सुरू (1950-1960)

1950 च्या दशकात सुन्नी वक्फ बोर्डाने वादग्रस्त जागेच्या मालकीचा दावा करत खटला दाखल केल्यावर कायदेशीर वाद सुरू झाला. हा खटला वर्षानुवर्षे विकसित होत गेला, भारतातील प्रदीर्घ काळ चाललेल्या कायदेशीर लढाईंपैकी एक बनला.

बाबरी मशीद पाडणे (६ डिसेंबर १९९२)

६ डिसेंबर १९९२ रोजी भारतीय जनता पक्ष (भाजप) आणि विश्व हिंदू परिषद (व्हीएचपी) आणि शिवसेना बाळासाहेब ठाकरे यांच्या नेत्यांसह हिंदू कार्यकर्त्यांच्या मोठ्या मेळाव्याने बाबरी मशीद पाडली. या घटनेने व्यापक जातीय दंगली घडवून आणल्या आणि त्याचे महत्त्वपूर्ण सामाजिक आणि राजकीय परिणाम झाले.अयोध्या कायदा (1993)

सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाचा हस्तक्षेप (2002)

2002 मध्ये, सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाने हस्तक्षेप केला आणि कोणत्याही धार्मिक क्रियाकलापांना प्रतिबंधित करून वादग्रस्त जागेवर यथास्थिती ठेवण्याचे आदेश दिले. या निर्णयाचे उद्दिष्ट स्थिरता राखणे आणि पुढील जातीय तणाव टाळण्यासाठी होते.

अलाहाबाद उच्च न्यायालयाचा निकाल (2010)

2019 मध्ये एका ऐतिहासिक निकालात सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाने वादग्रस्त जागेवर राम मंदिर बांधण्याच्या बाजूने निर्णय दिला. न्यायालयाने हिंदूंसाठी या जागेचे महत्त्व मान्य केले आणि बाबरी मशीद पाडण्याच्या बेकायदेशीर स्वरूपावर जोर दिला.

श्री रामजन्मभूमी तीर्थ क्षेत्र ट्रस्टची स्थापना (२०२०)

2020 मध्ये, राम मंदिराच्या बांधकामावर देखरेख करण्यासाठी श्री रामजन्मभूमी तीर्थ क्षेत्र ट्रस्टची स्थापना करण्यात आली. संपूर्ण मंदिर परिसराचे व्यवस्थापन करण्याची जबाबदारी ट्रस्टकडे आहे.

भूमिपूजन (5 ऑगस्ट, 2020)

5 ऑगस्ट 2020 रोजी, राम मंदिराच्या बांधकामाची औपचारिक सुरुवात करण्यासाठी एक भव्य भूमिपूजन समारंभ झाला. या ऐतिहासिक सोहळ्याला पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदी आणि विविध धार्मिक नेते उपस्थित होते.

बांधकाम सुरू (२०२० पुढे)

वास्तु

राम मंदिराची मूळ रचना अहमदाबादच्या सोमपुरा कुटुंबाने 1988 मध्ये तयार केली होती. सोमपुराने सोमनाथ मंदिरासह किमान 15 पिढ्यांपासून जगभरातील 100 हून अधिक मंदिरांच्या डिझाइनमध्ये योगदान दिले आहे. मंदिराचे मुख्य वास्तुविशारद चंद्रकांत सोमपुरा होते, त्यांना त्यांचे दोन मुलगे, निखिल सोमपुरा आणि आशिष सोमपुरा यांनी मदत केली, जे वास्तुविशारद देखील आहेत. हिंदू ग्रंथ, वास्तुशास्त्र आणि शिल्प शास्त्रानुसार, सोमपुरा यांनी 2020 मध्ये मूळपासून काही बदलांसह नवीन डिझाइन तयार केले होते. मंदिर 250 फूट रुंद, 380 फूट लांब आणि 161 फूट (49 मीटर) उंच असेल. एकदा पूर्ण झाल्यानंतर, मंदिर परिसर जगातील तिसरे सर्वात मोठे हिंदू मंदिर असेल. हे नागारा शैलीतील स्थापत्य कलेच्या गुर्जरा-चालुक्य शैलीमध्ये डिझाइन केलेले आहे, मुख्यत्वे उत्तर भारतात आढळणारे हिंदू मंदिर वास्तुकलेचा एक प्रकार आहे. 2019 मध्ये प्रयाग कुंभमेळ्यादरम्यान प्रस्तावित मंदिराचे मॉडेल प्रदर्शित करण्यात आले होते. मंदिराची मुख्य रचना तीन मजली उंच व्यासपीठावर बांधली जाईल. गर्भगृहाच्या मध्यभागी आणि प्रवेशद्वारावर पाच मंडप असतील. एका बाजूला तीन मंडप कुडू, नृत्य आणि रंगासाठी आणि दुसऱ्या बाजूला दोन मंडप कीर्तन आणि प्रार्थनेसाठी असतील. नगारा शैलीत मंडप शिखरांनी सजवलेले आहेत.

बन्सी, राजस्थान येथून मिळवलेल्या 600,000 रुपयांच्या वाळूच्या दगडाने बांधकाम पूर्ण केले जाईल. मंदिराच्या बांधकामात लोखंडाचा वापर होणार नाही आणि दगडी तुकड्यांना जोडण्यासाठी दहा हजार तांब्या लागतील. सांस्कृतिकदृष्ट्या महत्त्वाच्या वाटचालीत, थायलंड रामजन्मभूमीवर माती पाठवून राम मंदिराच्या उद्घाटनासाठी प्रतीकात्मकरीत्या हातभार लावत आहे, मंदिराच्या सन्मानार्थ थायलंडच्या दोन नद्यांचे पाणी पाठवण्याच्या त्याच्या पूर्वीच्या इशाऱ्यावर बांधले आहे.

बांधकाम

श्री रामजन्मभूमी तीर्थ क्षेत्राने मार्च 2020 मध्ये श्री राम मंदिराच्या बांधकामाचा पहिला टप्पा सुरू केला. तथापि, 2020 मध्ये भारतातील COVID-19 साथीच्या लॉकडाऊननंतर चीन-भारत संघर्षामुळे बांधकाम तात्पुरते स्थगित करण्यात आले. बांधकामाच्या जागेचे सपाटीकरण आणि उत्खनन करताना शिवलिंग, खांब आणि तुटलेल्या मूर्ती सापडल्या. 25 मार्च 2020 रोजी उत्तर प्रदेशचे मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ यांच्या उपस्थितीत प्रभू रामाची मूर्ती तात्पुरत्या ठिकाणी हलवण्यात आली.

त्याच्या उभारणीच्या तयारीसाठी, विश्व हिंदू परिषदेने विजय महामंत्राचा जप विधी आयोजित केला होता, ज्यामध्ये लोक 6 एप्रिल 2020 रोजी विजय महामंत्र, श्री राम, जय राम, जय जय राम जपण्यासाठी वेगवेगळ्या ठिकाणी जमतील. हे सुनिश्चित करण्यासाठी असे म्हटले होते " मंदिराच्या बांधकामातील अडथळ्यांवर विजय.

लार्सन अँड टुब्रोने मंदिराच्या डिझाईन आणि बांधकामावर देखरेख करण्याची ऑफर दिली आहे आणि ते प्रकल्पाचे कंत्राटदार आहेत. सेंट्रल बिल्डिंग रिसर्च इन्स्टिट्यूट, नॅशनल इन्स्टिट्यूट ऑफ जिओफिजिकल रिसर्च आणि इंडियन इन्स्टिट्यूट ऑफ टेक्नॉलॉजी (उदा. बॉम्बे, गुवाहाटी आणि मद्रास) माती परीक्षण, काँक्रीट आणि डिझाइन यासारख्या क्षेत्रात मदत करत आहेत. भारतीय अंतराळ संशोधन संस्था (ISRO) ने मंदिराच्या खालून वाहणारा सरयूचा प्रवाह ओळखला असल्याचे अहवालात समोर आले आहे.

राजस्थानमधून आणलेल्या 600 हजार घनफूट वाळूचे दगड आणि बन्सी पर्वतीय दगडांनी बांधकाम पूर्ण केले जाईल.

प्राण प्रतिष्ठा

 जानेवारी 2024 पर्यंत, गर्भगृहासह मंदिराचा पहिला मजला तयार होईल. यामध्ये 22 जानेवारी 2024 रोजी दुपारी 12:29 वाजता 90 मिनिटांच्या शुभ मुहूर्तावर श्री रामाच्या मूर्तीचा अभिषेक करण्यात आला. ज्यामध्ये भारताचे पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदी प्रमुख पाहुणे होते. याआधी १५ जानेवारीपासून (मकर संक्रांत) विविध कार्यक्रम सुरू झाले होते. उत्तर प्रदेश सरकारने प्राण प्रतिष्ठासाठी 100 कोटी रुपयांची तरतूद केली आहे. 22 जानेवारीला अनेक राज्यांमध्ये शाळांना सुटी जाहीर करण्यात आली आहे. नरेंद्र मोदींनी 22 जानेवारी रोजी लोकांना घरोघरी दिवे लावण्याचे आवाहन केले आहे. मोदींसह चित्रपटसृष्टीतील अनेक नामवंत कलाकार आणि एकूण 6000 VVIP या कार्यक्रमात सहभागी झाले होते.

राम मंदिर हे सध्या अयोध्या, उत्तर प्रदेश, भारत येथे निर्माणाधीन असलेले महत्त्वाचे हिंदू मंदिर आहे. जानेवारी 2024 मध्ये त्याचे गर्भगृह आणि पहिला मजला तयार झाला आणि 22 जानेवारी 2024 रोजी श्री रामाच्या बालस्वरूपातील मूर्तीचे अभिषेक करण्यात आले.

हिंदू धर्माचे मुख्य देवता रामाचे जन्मस्थान मानल्या जाणाऱ्या ठिकाणी हे मंदिर आहे. यापूर्वी, या जागेवर बाबरी मशीद होती, जी अस्तित्वात असलेली गैर-इस्लामिक संरचना पाडल्यानंतर बांधण्यात आली होती, जी नंतर पाडण्यात आली. 2019 मध्ये, भारताच्या सर्वोच्च न्यायालयाने विवादित जमिनीवर निर्णय दिला, की जमीन हिंदूंची आहे आणि त्यावर राम मंदिर बांधले जाऊ शकते. मुस्लिमांना मशीद बांधण्यासाठी स्वतंत्र जमिनीचा तुकडा दिला जाईल. न्यायालयाने पुरावा म्हणून भारतीय पुरातत्व सर्वेक्षण (एएसआय) च्या अहवालाचा हवाला दिला, ज्याने पाडलेल्या बाबरी मशिदीच्या खाली गैर-इस्लामिक वास्तू असल्याचे सूचित करणारे पुरावे उद्धृत केले.

5 ऑगस्ट 2020 रोजी राम मंदिराच्या बांधकामाला सुरुवात करण्यासाठी भूमिपूजन करण्यात आले. सध्या बांधकाम सुरू असलेल्या मंदिराची देखभाल श्री रामजन्मभूमी तीर्थ क्षेत्र ट्रस्ट करत आहे. मंदिराचे उद्घाटन 22 जानेवारी 2024 रोजी होणार आहे.

दर्शनाची वेळ निश्चित केली आहे :-

नवीन मूर्तीच्या स्थापनेनंतर आजपासूनच राम मंदिरातील दोन्ही मूर्तींचे दर्शन घेण्याची संधी भाविकांना मिळणार आहे. दर्शनाच्या वेळा सकाळी 7 ते सकाळी 11:30 पर्यंत पहिल्या शिफ्टमध्ये आहेत. यानंतर दुसऱ्या शिफ्टची वेळ दुपारी 2 ते सायंकाळी 6.30 अशी निश्चित करण्यात आली आहे. भाविकांची गर्दी वाढल्यास दर्शनाचा कालावधी वाढणार आहे
